BEKINS VAN LINES ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH PORTABOX, LLC
Partnership Provides Do-It-Yourself Customers with Portable Self-Storage Options
September 21, 2007 -- Bekins Van Lines, headquartered in Hillside, Ill., is pleased to announce that it has forged a strategic alliance with PortaBox, LLC, to offer the do-it-yourself customer a portable self-storage option.
Under the PortaBox system, specialized storage vaults are delivered to customers for self-loading. Once loading is completed and the vault has been secured with the customer's padlock, arrangements are made to either return the vault to a storage location or to deliver it to an alternative location, such as a new residence, for customer unloading. This successful program completely eliminates customers' need for a rental truck.
As part of their new alliance, Bekins Van Lines will provide marketing expertise and specific support services to PortaBox franchisees for PortaBox customers requiring a portable do-it-yourself moving and storage option.
"A growing segment of customers are interested in options for remodeling, de-clutter programs, residence resizing, long-term storage, short-term storage and local and interstate relocation," said Jack Griffin, Bekins Van Lines' senior vice president of business development. "PortaBox will provide these customers with the local services they desire while taking full advantage of Bekins' national network to service their interstate transportation needs."
PortaBox has been in operation since 1997 with their corporate headquarters located in Seattle, Washington.
